๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐. Fr. John laid out the dire predicament we all faceโand why we so desperately need to be rescued. The Fall wasnโt just about separation; humanity became enslaved to powers we cannot defeat on our own. But understanding the weight of the bad news sets the stage for something incredibleโฆ

Or maybe the better question is: What, if anything, has God done about all of this? The answer is breathtaking, and we canโt wait to explore it together.

๐ Baptism gives us a new identity, transferring us from the kingdom of death to the kingdom of Godโlike receiving a spiritual passport into the Fatherโs house.
โ Knowing the enemyโs tactics equips us to fight back. If the enemy delights when we neglect prayer, letโs make him miserable by praying all the more.
โ Death does not have the final word. The enemyโs greatest weapon has already been conqueredโChrist has won the victory!
๐ญ Lifeโs struggles can feel like the tangled backside of a tapestry, but one day, weโll see the masterpiece God has been weaving all along.
๐ We are called to live in freedom. Every Sunday is a celebration of our liberation.
This is a battle worth fighting. And through Christ, we already know how the story ends. ๐ฅ
๐ Please keep all our Rescue participants in prayer as we step into the next phase of this journey. May the Holy Spirit open our eyes, stir our hearts, and lead us deeper into the rescue.
๐ธ Hereโs a recap of our last session in picturesโmay it continue to inspire us to press on!

Who is Saint Francis of Paola?
He was a man who deeply loved contemplative solitude and wished only to be the โleast in the household of God.โ Yet, when the Church called him to active service in the world, he became a miracle-worker and influenced the course of nations.
After accompanying his parents on a pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi, he began to live as a contemplative hermit in a remote cave near Paola, on Italyโs southern seacoast. Before he was 20, he received the first followers who had come to imitate his way of life. Seventeen years later, when his disciples had grown in number, Francis established a Rule for his austere community and sought Church approval. This was the founding of the Hermits of St. Francis of Assisi, who were approved by the Holy See in 1474.
In 1492, Francis changed the name of his community to โMinimsโ because he wanted them to be known as the least (minimi) in the household of God. Humility was to be the hallmark of the brothers as it had been in Francisโs personal life. Besides the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, Francis enjoined upon his followers the fourth obligation of a perpetual Lenten fast. He felt that heroic mortification was necessary as a means for spiritual growth.
It was Francisโs desire to be a contemplative hermit, yet he believed that God was calling him to the apostolic life. He began to use the gifts he had received, such as the gifts of miracles and prophecy, to minister to the people of God. A defender of the poor and oppressed, Francis incurred the wrath of King Ferdinand of Naples for the admonitions he directed toward the king and his sons.
Following the request of Pope Sixtus IV, Francis traveled to Paris to help Louis XI of France prepare for his death. While ministering to the king, Francis was able to influence the course of national politics. He helped to restore peace between France and Brittany by advising a marriage between the ruling families, and between France and Spain by persuading Louis XI to return some disputed land. Francis died while at the French court.

Jesus heals a man born blind, revealing that true sight comes not through physical vision but through faith. The Pharisees, blinded by their own judgment, fail to recognize God's work, while the healed man comes to see not only with his eyes but with his heart. As 1 Samuel 16:7 reminds us, "Not as man sees does God see, because man sees the appearance, but the Lord looks into the heart." In healing the blind man, Jesus calls all to move from darkness into light, echoing Ephesians 5:8-14: โLive as children of light.โ Those who humbly acknowledge their need for Christ are given true sight, while those who cling to their own understanding remain in darkness.

Take this opportunity to return to Him with confidence and trust. Our priests are offering extra Confession times to help you prepare your heart this Lent:

On March 23rd, many from our OLM community gathered at the PLC, after the noon Mass, to join in the St. Josephโs Feast Day Table celebrations.
Our priest-in-residence, Fr. Bill Vagenas, was on hand to help lead with prayer. Our Social Committee volunteers prepared a meatless pasta (with marinara and alfredo sauce) and salad. Attendees brought a variety of artisan bread, baked goods and desserts to share and many obliged to the invitation to wear red, in keeping with Italian-American tradition.
Enjoy these pictures from our afternoon of food and fellowship in honor of St. Joseph.
