Eucharistic Adoration

Without silence, God disappears in the noise. And this noise becomes all the more obsessive because God is absent. Unless the world rediscovers silence, it is lost. The earth then rushes into nothingness.

Cardinal Sarah

St. John Paul II said, “I encourage Christians regularly to visit Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament, for we are all called to abide in the presence of God.”

You see, the Lord is pursuing us at every moment of every single day. He wants us to ‘waste’ time with Him before the Blessed Sacrament.

Interested in offering up a Eucharistic Holy Hour? Or wondering on what to do in the silence before the Blessed Sacrament?  A couple suggestions are:

  • Read the Bible
  • Lectio Divina
  • Contemplate the mysteries of the Rosary
  • Just sit in silence and spend time with Him.  Encounter Jesus in a special way that He is personally inviting you to come and share your heart with Him.

The Gift of the Eucharist and Eucharistic Reverence

Thank you for your interest in Eucharistic Adoration at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Anyone is welcome to come and pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament during the Exposition of the Holy Eucharist.
We encourage you to become a part of our Adoration Ministry, which is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with our Lord Jesus regularly through the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and to join our community in prayer and adoration.

We encourage you to commit to a weekly Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration. Your commitment to a dedicated weekly Holy Hour allows us to grow our community of Adorers as the parish grows, as well as, helps us prepare to offer more adoration opportunities for special events throughout the year.

YOUR ROLE AS AN ADORER
An Adorer at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church represents our parish community in adoration and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Thus, it is not only a time to pray for yourself and your own family and friends but it is also a time to pray for the entire parish family, which provides great consolation to the parish by knowing that someone is praying for them continuously.

PRAYER INTENTIONS
We encourage each adorer to keep these intentions in mind:

  1. The material and spiritual welfare of the universal Church; and in particular, those of the parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy.
  2. Vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
  3. The sanctity of all life, from conception to natural end.
  4. Your own personal intentions.

If you cannot commit to a weekly Holy Hour, please consider joining our Adoration Ministry Sub team and you can help us fill a weekly Adorer’s spot when he or she cannot attend.

Our Lady of Mercy has Eucharistic Adoration every Monday and Thursday from 8:30AM to 6PM and Wednesday from 8AM to 12PM and at MAGNIFY typically at the last Wednesday of the month 7PM to 8:30PM. If you are able and would like to make a commitment to be a permanent adorer please sign up below.  Do reach out to Shirley Staples at (630)815-5799 or shirleystaples@yahoo.com with any questions.

PLEASE NOTE: Occasionally during funerals or other important events exposition of the Holy Eucharist may need to be temporarily postponed (reposed). However, you are still welcome and encouraged to come to church during these events and adore Christ present in the Tabernacle during your scheduled hour. You can sit in the back of the church (e.g. cry rooms in the back or side room behind the glass). In the case of a funeral, you are welcome to offer this time as a corporal work of mercy (bury the dead).
