Discipleship Projects: (1 needed for Confirmation Requirement)
Discipleship projects help teens learn what a disciple is by sharing faith and experiences with the people they serve. This is much more than just serving food or carrying items for someone. It can include faith events where teens learn about being a disciple or events that help people in need such as nursing home visits or a trip to FMSC.
Teen Mission Trip counts for all 3 service projects and 1 discipleship project.
Living Stations of the Cross performance on Good Friday. A rehearsal is required and there will be silent acting and reader parts for teens.
Teen and Parent Speaker Night held in January: Attend to hear a great Catholic speaker on a relevant topic of faith. Parent and teen attend this together.
EDGE Co-Catechist are needed to help on Monday evenings with the middle school EDGE Nights. This project will count for all the service and discipleship projects needed for Confirmation.
Magnify events held throughout the year will count as a Discipleship project.
Plan your own Discipleship project: Teens can plan their own project. These might include a trip to FMSC, a local nursing home during the holidays, leading a bible study at church or school, etc.
Service Projects: (3 needed for Confirmation Requirement)
Service projects are events that require teens to help serve someone or an organization, such as food collection, serving food/donuts, helping clean or move items, etc.
OLM Parish Mobile Food Pantry – held monthly on Wednesday afternoons to provide food for families in need.
Aurora Day of Service held in the spring to do work for needy parishioners or community members. Jobs consists of mulch installation, gardening, garage/yard clean-up, window washing, etc. This will count as a service OR discipleship project.
Teen Help at Various dinners and events held in the parish. These are posted as they come up and include the Donut Sundays, Lenten Fish Dinners, Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfasts, SVDP clothing drives, etc.
