For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.

The funeral rites of the Catholic Church “offer worship, praise and thanksgiving to God for the gift of a life which now has been returned to God, the author of life and the hope of the just.” (Order of Christian Funerals) The Catholic funeral rite traditionally consists of a Vigil Service (Wake), the Mass of Christian Burial and the Rite of Committal at the grave or place of interment. A funeral liturgy can be planned after the death of a loved one or when one pre-plans for their funeral and burial.
