Sacrament of Confirmation

The sacrament of confirmation strengthens the baptized and obliges them more firmly to be witnesses of Christ by word and deed and to spread and defend the faith.  It imprints a character, enriches by the gift of the Holy Spirit the baptized continuing on the path of Christian initiation, and binds them more perfectly to the Church.

(Code of Canon Law 879)

Our Lady of Mercy Parish generally administers the Sacrament of Confirmation in High School (Grades 9-12) and for adults at the Easter Vigil.

Adults (18 and over) who would like to receive the sacrament should contact Fr. Frank Pusateri (630-851-3444 x226) or OCIA@olmercy.old.diocesanweb.org for information on the OCIA program (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults).

High School Teens are invited to the LIGHT Chosen Confirmation Program  when they are ready. Generally, the program will take 2 years to complete, so teens should consider beginning the program in their Freshman year, however teens and parents should understand the time commitment before enrolling. We will do everything possible to help families in this process. Please contact Dave for details or questions at DaveM@olmercy.old.diocesanweb.org or 331-707-5371.
